History of Lin San Temple 灵山寺

Lin San Temple is located at 27 Lorong 12, Geylang, was established by the Hakka Venerable Ruixiang (瑞祥法师) from Guangdong. Venerable Ruixiang passed away in 1960s, and the temple were taken over by Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师) and Mingzhen (明真法师). In the early 1970s, Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师)rebuilt the temple and held the “Lin San Temple Reconstruction Ceremony” in 1973. Under the leadership of Venerable Seang Hong (常恒法师), Lin San Temple became popular, and many believers visited the temple to worship Buddha together. In addition, the monastery often invited other monks to conduct Buddhist lessons, and Venerable Seang Hong was invited regularly to participate prayer ceremonies at Kong Meng San throughout the year. Lin San Temple has been very active in terms of charity and public welfare work, whereby Lin San Temple supported children classes, monthly visits and donations to the elderly homes, and also to the orphanages. The donations raised on Vesak Day was distributed to various charitable organisations annually.

Rebuilding of Lin San Temple 灵山寺

The foundation of Lin San Temple was seriously affected by the surrounding constructions and in 2003, Lin San Temple has been ordered to be demolished and rebuilt for safety reasons. However, due to insufficient funding, building plans and other reasons, the reconstruction project has to be suspended temporarily. Rebuilding Lin San Temple was the only wish of Venerable Seang Heng, and we are happy to see Lin San Temple as it is today! The rebuilding of Lin San Temple was completed on 11 March 2022, and the official opening of Lin San Temple was held on 12 March 2023, and the guest of honour is none other than Senior Minister Mr. Teo Chee Hean.
